Preparing for Your Procedure

Patients will be given a personalized set of instructions to prepare for their gynecomastia surgery. Here’s what yours may look like:

Refrain from smoking and drinking : Please abstain from both in the 2 weeks leading up to your treatment.
Hand the keys over : Arrange for transportation home as you will not be able to do so on your own.

Gynecomastia surgery is performed under general anesthesia. The exact process that Dr. Azar uses will depend on your needs. He may choose to combine both liposuction and surgical excision. This is an effective way to ensure the patient has a flat, even chest and to eliminate an inframammary fold, an area where the breast skin and tissue hangs over the chest. ^[2] The breast tissue is usually removed using the Webster incision, which encircles the areola and avoids visible scarring. ^[3] During the liposuction procedure, Dr. Azar inserts a narrow cannula under the breast tissue to aspirate the excess fat. The surrounding area may also need liposuction to sculpt a consistent new physique. Any incisions will be closed using sutures.

TruSculpt Method

TruSculpt is a minimally-invasive, fat-removing body sculpting technique that Azar Plastic Surgery offers patients as an alternative to traditional gynecomastia treatment. It is best suited to patients needing to remove a small amount of stubborn fat from the male breast. The applicator sends uniformed radiofrequency (RF) energy through the skin to penetrate subcutaneous fat. ^[3] The heat generated from the RF waves destroys the fat cells beyond repair. truSculpt works with your body’s natural elimination process to remove fat cells organically over 6-12 weeks. Recovery
