Eyelid surgery usually involves the removal or adjustment of the eyelid skin, muscle, and fat. It can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids or both. For the upper eyelids, Incisions are concealed along the crease of the upper eyelids The incisions are closed, leaving only very thin scars that will fade over time.

When correcting the lower eyelids, Dr. Azar uses the transconjunctival technique, where he removes the pockets of fat that cause puffy under-eye bags through an incision inside the lower eyelids. Some of the lower eyelid fat may also be repositioned (orbital fat repositioning) to treat hollowing of the inner aspect of the tear trough or lower eyelid volume loss.
