The Balanced Features You Want
Chin implants use synthetic material tailored to your features to enhance structures in the face. Chin implants are one of the most common facial implants used in Plastic Surgery today.
An Enhanced, Defined You
The improvements from facial implants are usually subtle, yet impressive.
Chin and jowl (jaw line) implants can strengthen jaw definition and provide balance and harmony to the face. Cheek implants can bring definition and improved facial contour. Jaw implants provide a more sculpted look and may reduce the appearance of a double chin.
Improve the Harmony of Your Features
Chin implants are a great solution for correcting a lack of facial contour, such as a small chin or weak jaw. If you want more balanced facial features with more definition, you may be a great candidate for facial implants.
Often, more than one procedure may be performed at a time depending on the needs of the patient. Chin implants are commonly combined with either submental (neck liposuction) or a neck lift procedure to contour the neck and provide a more defined appearance. Book your consultation with Dr. Azar today to learn how chin implants can help you feel more confident about your face shape.
Look Better. Feel Better.
Implant procedures can take 1–2 hours and are performed under local anesthesia combined with general anesthesia. Dr. Azar places facial implants through inconspicuous incisions.
For a chin implant the incision may be hidden underneath the chin close to the junction of the neck and the chin where it is most hidden. For a jaw implant, an incision is made inside the mouth to allow for implant placement along the jawline. Dr. Azar combines facial implants with other facial procedures such as a brow lift or a facelift, in which case additional incisions are usually not required. Chin implants, in particular, are an excellent complement to nose reshaping, which is technically called rhinoplasty.
A Permanently Improved Profile
After surgery, you will need four to seven days of downtime and can expect significant swelling, stiffness, and some bruising for several weeks depending on the extent of your procedure.
You can manage swelling with rest and sleeping with your head elevated, and the use of a cold compress around the surgical site. Most swelling subsides in about two weeks, and after that, puffiness is usually only noticeable to the patient—not others. You will likely need to return in a week to get stitches removed and to follow up with Dr. Azar to see how you are healing.
The New and Improved You
Your results will be noticeable immediately and improve over the coming months as the tissue tightens and settles into its final position. Dr. Azar’s patients are left with the beautifully sculpted features they’ve always wanted and are proud to see in the mirror.

Patients will experience mild tenderness. Discomfort can be controlled with prescription or over-the-counter medications. The chin may feel tight at first, but this feeling will diminish over time.
All cosmetic surgery carries some risk of swelling, infection, prolonged scarring, bleeding, shifting implants, allergic reaction to the implant, and nerve damage.

Facial implant surgery is considered an elective cosmetic surgery and is not covered by insurance.
You should arrange for someone to drive you home since your procedure will require general anesthesia.
Hyaluronic acid filler injections such as Juvederm Voluma can be performed to enhance the projection of the chin. This affords an opportunity to see how the face would look before committing to surgical enhancement. Generally 1-2 syringes of Voluma will produce the desired results and can last up to 1 year per treatment.
